On March 7-9, 2025, the meeting of the Professional Teachers' Advisory Council of the ESFTUG was held at the ESFTUG Teachers' Professional Development Training Center in Satsire village, Tkibuli Municipality.
The meeting was attended by 26 teachers from the ESFTUG’s district and city organizations of Gldani, Rustavi, Batumi, Marneuli, Bolnisi, Kaspi, Adigeni, Aspindza, Sachkhere, Borjomi, Tsageri, and Lentekhi.
At the opening session, the ESFTUG President Maia Kobakhidze provided a detailed overview of the activities carried out by the ESFTUG to protect and improve teachers' labor, socio-economic, and legal rights, as well as to support their professional development. She also spoke about the goals and objectives behind the creation of the ESFTUG Professional Teachers' Advisory Council.
Over the course of two days, teachers worked under the leadership of Roland Khojanashvili, Chairman of the Advisory Council, on topics related to the authorization standards for general education institutions. Colleagues discussed:
• The role of schools in creating a safe and professional development-oriented learning environment
• The definition of school mission, vision, and values
• Methodologies for developing strategic plans and action plans
 Based on assessments of school readiness, Advisory Board members developed strategies for trade union involvement to assist schools in this process. They also shared best practices.
Roland Khojanashvili presented and distributed developed materials and resources to all participants. Natia Gabroshvili, Chairperson of the ESFTUG Gori District Organization and a lead teacher at Gori Public School No. 7, delivered a session on remediation and adaptation.
In the final part of the meeting, the ESFTUG President Maia Kobakhidze provided a detailed summary of the union's achievements in recent years and discussed future plans, answering participants' questions. The ESFTUg Vice President Natia Kordzadze spoke about important health insurance policies for teachers, including maternity leave, sick leave payments, and related challenges. She highlighted cases where teachers' rights were restored through the union’s efforts.
 The meeting also welcomed Giorgi Dididze, a Batumi city organization member and teacher at a private school in Batumi. Having returned to teaching in the past two years, he has actively continued his trade union activism. Despite interruptions in his teaching career, he has remained a strong supporter of the union and shared his experiences with colleagues.
Natela Tevzadze, Chairwoman of the ESFTUg Sachkhere county Organization of the ESFTUG and a mathematics teacher, also participated in the Advisory Council's discussions.
The Advisory Council members expressed their appreciation to the ESFTUG President Maia Kobakhidze for her leadership and emphasized the importance of expanding awareness about the role of trade union among teachers.
On the second day of the meeting, attendees watched the documentary film "The Path of the ESFTUG in 2010-2014," which had a strong emotional impact on the members.
