In the majority of schools, despite the Ministry’s recommendation, directors avoid signing long-term agreements with teachers. In such conditions, teachers lose the sense of stability which negatively affects teaching process. There are cases when agreements become outdated in June and for this reason, teachers cannot get their holiday pay.
By the Order of 11 October, 2007 and amendment of 8 April, 2008, in article 91, timeframes for labour agreement between school and teacher were recommended to be from 3 to 5 years.
However, director of a public school #24, Gia Murghulia states that school shall decide what can be the relevant timeframes of labour agreements for individual teachers. As GYLA lawyer indicated, fulfilling the recommendation of the Ministry is not obligatory as it is only a recommendation.
